Woodlane, Falmouth

Woodlane was a challenging project on a tight budget.
The current owners wanted to have more access to the raised garden and create a separate annex. The architectural + interior design solution was to remove the rear chimney stack dividing the back bedrooms, to create a large kitchen-diner with bridged access to the garden. The ground floor which housed the previous kitchen, dining room and utilities was transformed into a self contained one-bedroom flat.

New glazing, roof-lights and a vaulted ceiling allow much needed light into the north-facing spaces. The original floorboards were relaid in the dining room in a herringbone pattern, and hand-painted cork tiles were used as a cost effective & durable finish in the kitchen. The kitchen units, shelves & skirting were all designed in birch & formica ply, creating an extremely cost effective & bespoke contemporary kitchen.
